  Relying on its characteristic disciplines, the research strength of College of Light Industry, Textile and Food Engineering, Sichuan University has increased substantially. And scientific research level and total research funding also increase with years.
   Total research fund was 13.475 million RMB in 2007, including 2.6 million for national scientific and technological project, 0.85 million for national “973 Project” and “863 Project” items, and 0.736 million, 0.40 million, 0.78 million, 0.238 million, 0.37 million, 0.49 million and 7.149 million for national natural science foundation, National Outstanding Youth Fund, Science and Technology Project, Ministry of Education (excellent doctoral thesis fund), Ministry of Education Project, Central Project, Province items and Enterprises Entrusted Items, respectively. And the total funds was 15.32 million RMB in 2008, including the funds of National Scientific and technology Project Items 1.43 million; National “973” and “863” Project 1.99 million; Ministries and Commissions Items 30 thousand; Natural Science Foundation of China 1.244 million; Ministry of Education Items 62 thousand; Province and Civic Projects 1.256 million; Enterprises Entrusted Items 9.197 million; Transfer of Progeny 0.1 million; Sichuan University Youth Sci-Tech Fund 20 thousand. The total funds reached to 22.162 million in 2009, in which 4.36 million for National Scientific and Technological Project, 0.577 million for National 973 and 863 Project, 2.69 million for Ministry of Science and Technology Items, 0.956 million for Natural Science Foundation of China, 0.284 million for Ministry of Education Item, 4.00 million Ministries and Commissions Items, about 1.929 million for Province and Civic Items, 6.835 million for Enterprise Entrusted Items, 0.15 million for International Collaboration Items and 0.35 million for Transfer of Progeny.
   Regarding to the academic achievement, a total of 310 all classes of research papers were published in 2007, including SCI, EI index 62; overseas journal 7; international conference 42; national periodical 183; national conference 12; local journal 4; monograph 1 with 350,000 words; textbook 4 with 1,195,000 words; lecture 7 notes with 630,000 words. The total number of academic papers was 332 in 2008, including SCI, EI index 67; overseas journal 8; international conference 38; core journal 165 papers; national periodical 46; local journal 8; monograph 1 with 195,000 words; textbook 8 with 1,073,200 words. A total of 365 academic papers of various types had been published in 2009, including SCI, EI index 62; overseas journal 8; international conference 52; core journal 166 papers; national periodical 42; local journal 35; monograph 2 with 180,000 words; textbook 9 with 1,723,000 words.
   A total of 9 awards had been received in 2007, including the first provincial prize 2, the second provincial prize 2; town hall-style award 4; participative prize 1. And there were 6 items of award in 2008, including the second ministry/province prize and other prize 5 items. Eight items awards have been received in 2009, all of which were participative prize.
  The totality of authorized inventive patent was 9 items, 18 items and 12 items in 2007, 2008 and 2009, respectively. And the number of applied patent was 4, 5 and 32 items during these three years. The totality of applied patent of utility model was 2 items in 2007, 1 item in 2009, and there were 1 item of authorized patent of utility model in 2008 and 2009, respectively. Besides, 31 items of inventive patent were applied in 2009.
